My name is Ashley Gordon, and trucking isn’t just something I do—it’s something I’ve lived.
I was born and raised in Ohio, where my journey into the trucking industry first began. I spent over five years on the road as an over-the-road driver, traveling across the United States, into Canada, and running border routes. Those years taught me discipline, independence, and what it truly means to handle life on the road.
After gaining that experience, I transitioned into local work with J.B. Hunt in intermodal, where I learned a different side of the industry—efficiency, time management, and consistency. From there, I took the next step and became an owner-operator, gaining firsthand experience running a trucking business and understanding the responsibilities that come with it.
My journey then brought me to Texas, where I entered the oil field industry, expanding my skill set even further. Eventually, I stepped into a training role, where everything began to shift for me. I realized I didn’t just enjoy trucking—I truly enjoyed teaching it.
I took time to learn from both large companies and smaller operations, paying attention to what worked, what didn’t, and what was missing in driver training programs. I saw a gap—students weren’t always getting the real-world knowledge or confidence they needed.
That’s when I knew it was time.
Future Truckers of Texas was built from that vision. What started as an idea for one-on-one training grew into something bigger after seeing how much students connected with my teaching style. I believe in making learning hands-on, supportive, and even fun—because when students feel comfortable, they learn better and succeed faster.
Today, I continue to do what I love—sharing my knowledge, building confidence in my students, and helping them step into a career that can truly change their lives.
